Just before 9am this morning, Hudson Fire Dive Team was paged for a car in Lake Evergreen.

61-year-old man's body pulled from car in Evergreen Lake

Members of the Hudson Fire Department Dive Team trained with the Illinois Search and Rescue Dogs this month.  They will be training with these dogs monthly to get them certified for search and rescue missions. 

Approximatly 6 dogs were trained to lead a boat to a drowning victim by scent and visual at Evergreen Lake.

 With winter weather now coming to an end and warmer weather in the area, more and more people    are starting to open burn, but, did you know that warmer weather leads to dry vegetation that can result in brush fires that burn and spread rapidly. Here are a few tips to think about to help prevent a fire spreading to your home.

Our first Valentine's Day party was a big success.  Many people from the community spent the afternoon at the fire department for lunch, dancing, games, face painting, and a tour of the station.  We have posted 100+ photos of the event on our photo & video section.  Check it out!

TOWANDA -- A county highway worker fled a fiery blaze Monday after his truck was hit from behind and caught fire shortly after 2 p.m. Monday on the overpass that connects to the Towanda exit on Interstate 55.

The crash temporarily blocked both southbound lanes of the county road leading into Towanda Monday afternoon while one lane was open northbound. Interstate traffic below the overpass was not affected.

A southbound sport utility vehicle rear-ended a McLean County Highway Department truck towing a street sweeper, authorities at the scene said.

During the regular December Trustee meeting the Trustee's decided to appoint Interim Fire Chief Dan to the position permanently.  They held make the official announcement of the appointment to the department members until the Christmas Party on December 11^th. Chief Hite has been serving as interim chief since August. On behalf of the Trustee’s and members of the department join us in welcoming the Chief and his family.

During the annual fire department Christmas Party held on December 11th, 2008 at the Hudson Fire Station, the fire chief presented awards to three individual for outstanding job performance during the year.
